Pique endorses Mikel Arteta for Barcelona job
Pique, who shared the pitch with Xavi for seven seasons at Barca, hinted that Xavi might reconsider his decision, but should Xavi leave, Pique sees Arteta and Pep Guardiola as top contenders for the role.
Pique stressed the importance of a coach who aligns with Barcelona's distinct playing philosophy.
“I don’t think it’s a decision that is 100 per cent,” Pique told Sunday Times.
“The obvious ones are Guardiola, because he had his past here, and he is the best coach right now, and also Mikel Arteta.
“Arteta would be a good one also. He understands Barcelona and played for Barca in the past.”
Arteta is currently leading Arsenal's title charge, looking to wrestle the Premier League title from Manchester City.
