Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has told his teammate to calm down after recent disappointing performances.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has offered words of encouragement to new teammate Endrick, urging him to "calm down" after a disappointing display in the El Clasico friendly against Barcelona.

Endrick, who has faced criticism for his pre-season performances, struggled in his first appearance in the iconic fixture, which Barcelona won 2-1 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Courtois tells Endrick to calm down

Courtois compared Endrick to former Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard, who also faced challenges adapting to the team.

"He is not very tall, but he is very strong in his legs. He's a bit like Eden [Hazard] when I met him at Chelsea – he also had strong legs.

"You can kick him and he will still stand. And he has a lot of strength in the shot. In training, I have seen him shoot hard."

Courtois advised Endrick to relax and focus on his game, saying, "Above all, I think he has to calm down a little bit. I don't know if he is a little nervous, but he is going to get better and better."

Endrick has failed to score in his two appearances so far, following on from a disappointing showing at the Copa America for Brazil.

However, fans must keep faith with the youngster who is just 18 years old.
