Chelsea star Joe Cole has made a bold claim about Cole Palmer, comparing the Blues star to Argentine legend Lionel Messi.

Palmer played an important role in Chelsea’s draw against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

The Blues played a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth as they faltered in their race for the Premier League title.

Despite the draw, the England international was exceptional for the Blues, scoring the first goal of the game with a cheeky move.

Joe Cole on Palmer’s ability

The former Blue Cole made a daring statement on Palmer, who has been nothing short of a revelation at the age of 22.

He told TNT Sports, “He plays the game at his own speed. That’s the biggest compliment I can pay to him. When you watch him, he reminds you of [Lionel] Messi.

“I don’t want to put that kind of pressure on him but he plays at his own pace. It’s a sensational finish and these fans love watching him play football.”

Palmer calmly sat Mark Travers down in the Bournemouth goal and then slotted the ball into the net, demonstrating his skill and poise.

The midfielder is unquestionably a fantastic football player, and the fact that he is receiving these comparisons in only his second season of professional football demonstrates how much he has improved since the beginning of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the Blues are currently winless in their last five Premier League games and have only picked up three points from the previous 15 games.
