Atalanta and Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has missed out on the Serie A Player of the Year award.
Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has lost out on the Italian Serie A Player of the Year award to Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez.
Martínez scored 24 goals last season, winning the Golden Boot and leading Inter to a Serie A trophy.
The 27-year-old was also included in the Serie A Team of the Season and was named the most valuable player in the league.
Martinez has had an exceptional 2024 for club and country.
He was the top scorer in the Copa America, as he led Argentina to victory in the United States, starring alongside Lionel Messi.
Martinez finished ahead of Lookman, Rafael Leao, Marcus Thuram and Joshua Zirkzee in the race for Forward of the Year, which then put him in contention for the MVP Award.
The Super Eagles star has had an amazing year, leading Atalanta to Champions League qualification, and most importantly their first European title, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old has continued his electric form this season, scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists in 16 matches.
