The former Chelsea and Liverpool star is now certain to shun any approaches from Nigeria's Super Eagles
Dominic Solanke has received his first international call-up for England since 2017, putting an end to hopes of him representing Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Solanke returns after seven-year absence
Despite his early promise, the former Chelsea and Liverpool striker was left out of the senior squad for seven years, while his club career took him through spells in the Premier League and Championship with Bournemouth
This season, however, Solanke has been in good form, scoring three goals in six appearances, in addition to his impressive 21 goals in 42 appearances for the Cherries last season, earning him a spot in England’s squad for the upcoming matches in the UEFA Nations League against Greece and Finland.

If Solanke gets any minutes, during the upcoming international break, it will be the first time he has played for England since making his debut for the Three Lions against Brazil in 2017.
Super Eagles hopes dashed
Solanke, who is eligible to play for Nigeria through his father, had been a long-time target for the Nigerian national team, but his recent selection for England’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches has solidified his future with the Three Lions.
During Solanke’s long absence from the England squad, Nigerian fans had high hopes that he would switch allegiances and play for the Super Eagles, but with this latest call-up, those dreams have been dashed.

Instead of possibly wearing the Green and white of Nigeria, Solanke will now certainly be playing for the Three Lions as they look to win the UEFA Nations League for the first time.
