Moroccan superstar Noussair Mazraoui has earned praise from Ruben Amorim who celebrated a thrilling 3-2 victory in his first home match as Manchester United's manager at Old Trafford against Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt. 

The match showed the team's resilience and adaptability under the new boss, particularly through the standout performance of Mazraoui, who continued his role as a makeshift centre-back.

The game began energetically, with Alejandro Garnacho scoring just 49 seconds in. However, Bodo/Glimt quickly responded, taking a surprising 2-1 lead with goals from Hakon Evjen and Philip Zinckernagel. 

United's Rasmus Hojlund equalised just before halftime with a well-placed volley from Mazraoui's cross, and he later scored the winning goal shortly after the break, solidifying his role as a potential key player under Amorim.

After the match, Amorim expressed his admiration for Mazraoui's versatility and impact on the game. 

“He’s an incredible player, he’s our future,” highlighting the Moroccan's ability to perform in various positions while maintaining high energy levels.

Mazraoui's statistics from the match further underscore his contribution with 139 total touches, 100% cross accuracy, 21 passes into the final third and 95% pass accuracy, while creating three chances and making two key passes.

The 27-year-old also displayed his ability without the ball, making eight ball recoveries, and three clearances, winning five of five tackles attempted. 

“He played in different positions, he looks always fresh but we have to be careful,” Amorim added. “There’s a lot of games but he’s here to stay. This kind of player is what we need.”

The new Manchester United head coach, Amorim says Mazraoui is the future of the club.

Despite the victory, Amorim acknowledged areas his Red Devils need improvement, particularly in defensive transitions. He noted that while they controlled much of the game, lapses allowed Bodo to capitalise on counter-attacks.

The atmosphere at Old Trafford was electric as fans welcomed Amorim warmly, chanting his name throughout the match.
