Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, calling him one of the best of all time for the Reds
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on record-breaking Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah after the 30-year-old winger helped the Reds continue their recent winning streak with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Brentford in the Premier League.
Salah reaches several milestones against Brentford
Salah scored his 19th goal of the 2022/23 Premier League season to ensure Liverpool earned a sixth consecutive league win against Brentford to keep their slim hopes of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season alive.
The winning goal against Brentford saw Salah hit a number of milestones, including becoming the club’s fifth-top scorer of all time, drawing level with club legend Steven Gerrard on 186 goals in all competitions.
It was also his 100th goal at Anfield for Liverpool and his 30th goal in all competitions this season and made him the first player in the club’s history to score in nine consecutive home fixtures in all competitions.
Klopp hails under-appreciated Liverpool great
Speaking after the match against Brentford, Klopp was full of praise for Salah, hailing him as one of the best players in Liverpool's history.
The Liverpool manager said, "I think as an offensive player, you need to have this desire to score goals, but a lot of people forget how many goals he sets up, so he's just always, very, very often involved in the goals.”
"A lot of other players don't appreciate people enough when they are still playing, and for us, it's clear he's an all-time great.”
Salah’s goal against Brentford helped Liverpool close the gap on Manchester United and Newcastle in the race for UCL qualification, with the Reds now just three points behind the Magpies in third, although they have played two more games
