Atalanta were rewarded for a strong start when Mateo Retegui opened the scoring after four minutes before Brazilian midfielder Ederson made it 2-0 heading towards the break.
There was another early goal in the second half when Parma pulled one goal back four minutes after the break to give the Europa League kings something to think about.
The match took an unexpected turn when Atalanta's manager Gian Piero Gasperini was shown a red card in the 54th minute for dissent towards the officials, five minutes after Parma’s goal.
Despite his absence on the touchline, Gasperini's tactical setup had already laid a solid foundation for his team to build upon. The players led by their Nigerian star responded well to the challenge, maintaining their composure and focus to secure all three points.

His vision and creativity were instrumental in breaking down Parma’s defence, although he did miss a significant opportunity that could have added to his tally.
In recognition of Lookman's outstanding performance, Atalanta took to social media shortly after the match to celebrate their star forward.
The club posted a message that simply stated, “He’s in the game,” showing and appreciating his crucial contributions and reaffirming his importance to the team's success this season.
With this victory, Atalanta replaced Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A table for the first time this season.
