Real Nightmare Over? Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq set to dump Sociedad for Valencia
Nigeria Super Eagles star Umar Sadiq is expected to leave Real Sociedad for fellow LaLiga club Valencia this month.
What Corona said
However impressive their showing against Real Madrid was a few days ago, Valencia have struggled terribly this season and sit in one of the three relegation spots.
In a bid to stave off the drop, they replaced manager Ruben Baraja with Carlos Corberan and snapped up Sadiq from La Reale’s bench.
After completing the move for the former Almeria man, Corona explained the reason behind their decision to go for him despite his recent struggles, stating confidently that Sadiq will raise their level.
“We think he’s going to bring us a lot in attack,” Corona told reporters. “He’s going to give us a lot of options, being compatible with all the players we have in the squad. Getting used to them and having played, at times, upfront all alone.
“We have a lot of confidence; we know he’s going to help us. We wish him all the luck in the world. He is at full disposal of the coach from now on.
“Today, in fact, he has come to do a training session even though he was not scheduled for the group. It is one more example, as he has been demonstrating to me all these weeks of conversations of the desire he had to join our project and wear the Valencia shirt.”
