The tactician has opted to deputise Francis Baraza to aid the law enforcers' quest for glory after an impressive season with the sugar millers

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) moneybags Kenya Police FC have confirmed the appointment of Salim Babu as their new assistant coach.

The news comes after Babu's successful tenure as coach of Nzoia Sugar FC, where he led the team to an impressive fourth-place finish in the league.

Police team manager George Maelo confirmed the new development, expressing his confidence in Babu's ability to contribute to the team's success.

"It is true that he has joined us as the assistant coach to (Francis) Baraza. He is an experienced coach, and we feel he can add value to the team," Maelo said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Maelo expressed confidence in the duo's ability to replicate their success, having previously worked together at Sony Sugar when the now defunct club won the 2006 Premier League title.

"They are good friends and they have worked together before at Sony Sugar, and I know their combination with the quality players we have will deliver us the trophies that we want," he said.

Nzoia Sugar FC had an impressive season, finishing in fourth place with 64 points, same as Kenya Police who had a superior goal difference.

Babu joined Nzoia Sugar FC in January 2022, signing a long-term contract after his successful tenure with Kisumu All Stars.

His departure from the club has come as a surprise, as he played a crucial role in the team's success.

His expertise and tactical acumen were evident as he guided the team to their commendable league position.

The news of Babu's move has sent shockwaves through the football community, with many questioning the motive behind his decision to leave a team on the rise for an assistant coaching position.

The exodus at Nzoia continues with Babu joining some of his players, such as AFC Leopards-bound midfielder Boniface Munyendo, on the way out.

The club will now face the challenge of finding a suitable replacement for Babu and building upon their impressive season.
