Bonucci agrees with Super Eagles captain on striker scarier than Messi and Ronaldo
Super Eagles captain William Troost Ekong reveals the scariest striker he has played against.
While the Nigerian ace had to leave North London to further his career at lesser sides, Kane had a successful career with Tottenham and is currently the top goal scorer in Thee Lions history.
While the 31-year-old is so evidently elite nowadays, his talents did not initially inspire awe, or at least according to the Al-Kholood defender's recollection.
What Ekong said
The former Watford man was back in England a few days ago when he had an interview with British outlet talkSPORT.
The conversation was lengthy and the talking points were numerous, one of which was Harry Kane, his former teammate.
“I’m slightly surprised at his career, but I know how hard he worked for it,” Troost-Ekong told talkSPORT. “He had a great work rate; he was someone who was also very passionate about working on his finishing. Free kicks, I don’t think he’s shown enough of that but he was a fantastic free-kick taker.
“At that time we had one of the best academy coaches, John McDermott, who was the head of the academy. I think now he’s the technical director at the FA. Alex Singleford was our U-18s manager, and Chris Ramsay was the U-16s manager.
“So everything was in place for him (Kane) to learn a lot. He (Kane) just took his opportunity with both hands. I played against him once or twice, once for Nigeria against England at Wembley; it was amazing and once with Watford against Spurs.”
