Arne Slot has been reprimanded for a delayed decision in the Reds’ draw with Ruben Amorim’s men.

Liverpool icon Stevie Nicol was displeased with Arne Slot for delaying his substitution of Trent Alexander-Arnold in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United

Lisandro Martinez gave the Red Devils the lead early in the second half, but Arne Slot's men responded with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

Amad Diallo then equalised for United in the 80th minute, leading to a tense finale with both teams having chances to win.

Despite the draw, Alexander-Arnold, linked with a move to Real Madrid, had a worrisome performance with and without the ball before his 86th-minute withdrawal.

Speaking on ESPN, Nicol was surprised Slot did not take off the right-back earlier.

“We've sat here most of the season and said how the decisions he’s made all season have been fantastic, I think he made a boo-boo today,” Nicol said.

“When he made his substitutions and he brought on Nunez and brought on Jota, I couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t bring Conor Bradley on and get Trent Alexander off.

“Not just because of his passing but the fact that he getting stripped for fun every single time Dalot or anybody else went near him.

“That’s the first time this season he’s made a mistake."

What next for Liverpool?

Liverpool have a busy schedule ahead, with the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final and the FA Cup third round against Tottenham Hotspur on January 8 and Accrington Stanley three days later, before an away trip to Nottingham Forest on January 14.
