Michael Olunga worries Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae ahead of crunch encounter
Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae is wary of Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga ahead of the two side’s World Cup qualifier in Malawi on Tuesday afternoon.
“We have two players who were feeling a bit tired but they should be okay for tomorrow. We have one more who can’t train today, but we will look at him in the morning and then decide,” coach Emerse Fae said, speaking after their last session on Monday.
The former Ajax striker has emerged as a central figure for the Ivorian team and was more vital for Fae as he miraculously led them to the Cup of Nations.
He scored the winning goal against Nigeria in the final of the AFCON in February. Despite suffering a heartbreak at Wembley Stadium nearly a fortnight ago, Fae believes the loss has only made the talismanic striker even more determined to make amends next time.
