Real Madrid lead the race to securing the services of Borussia Dortmund star, Jude Bellingham, with Manchester City and Liverpool, who were both interested in the English midfielder, reportedly backing off.
With the Spanish giants in the driver's seat, Bild reports that they will be paying the England International £17.4m-a-year (£334,000), which after Eden Hazard, will make him the most paid at the Santiago Bernabeau.
In more positive news for Real, Bellingham is, according to the Daily Mail, set to reject an offer from Dortmund, which the club hopes to use to shut out the Spanish club.
Dortmund offered the 19-year-old fresh terms of £12million-a-year, which counts at £230,000-a-week, making him the most paid player in the club’s history.
Meanwhile, the fee that Madrid intends to pay to Dortmund is expected to be at an astonishing £130m.
Bellingham, who netted a brace in his side’s 6-1 mauling of Wolfsburg on Sunday to close the gap to Bayern Munich to a point, will be keen to sign out at the Signal Iduna Park on a high note.
Dortmund not desperate for a sale
While reports have indicated advanced talks, Bellingham's boss Eden Terzic said after Wolfsburg game that: “I haven't even heard from him that he's involved with another club.”
That was after his March statements to the Mail: “With all respect for Jude and his performance, we are answering these kinds of questions since he arrived.”
“Before he chose to join us, he had opportunities to join the Premier League. There was loads of interest from top-flight clubs.”
“But he chose to join us because he knows it can be the perfect step for him. I think we’ve proven it both ways. He’s helping us a lot. But we as a club are helping him and his career as well.”
It’s however uncertain whether Dortmund will be able to compete with the kind of financial muscle that Real Madrid boast.
