FKFPL Hungry Leopards stalk vulnerable Slum boys, Tusker aim to inebriate Talanta

Mathare United and Ingwe fixture has traditionally served a thrill while Tusker are huge favorites over Sunday's opponents.

Resurgent twelve-time Kenyan champions AFC Leopards' fixture with giant slayers Mathare United headlines a Sunday afternoon in which eight FKF Premier League fixtures are scheduled.

Posta Rangers and Ulinzi Stars square off against each other at Kasarani Annex in what will be the first game of the day.

Rangers registered their fifth win of the season when they defeated Vihiga Bullets 1-0 at Bukhungu Stadium on March 8, a result which moved them to 12th place on the log. The Mailmen have claimed 22 points from 18 matches.

Ulinzi Stars extended their unbeaten run to five matches when they defeated Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 at Ulinzi Sports Complex on March 8. The Soldiers claimed 12 points from away matches in the 2022/2023 campaign.

Rangers and Ulinzi Stars have met in 20 top-flight matches since 2016. The Soldiers have claimed eight wins compared to three wins for the Mailmen, while nine games have been drawn.

Ulinzi Stars claimed a 1-0 win when the two teams met earlier this season, with Hillary Simiyu scoring the match's only goal.

Mathare United v AFC Leopards

From Kasarani Annex, the action shifts to the Kasarani Main Stadium, where Mathare will look to bounce back from a defeat when they host 12-time league champions AFC Leopards.

Mathare fell to a 1-0 loss to Sofapaka on March 8, breaking a run of two matches. The Slum Boys have claimed just nine points from eight home matches this season.

The Slum Boys have beaten their opponents in five of 17 competitive matches since 2014. Seven of the matches ended in favour of Ingwe, while five were drawn.

Although history might favour Leopards in their current form, Mathare looks like a favorite.

With players such as the dangerous Daniel Otieno and Donald Ange in their ranks, Mathare United have started rising from the ashes, and they recently beat table leaders Gor Mahia 2-1.

Mathare United are currently 15th on the table with 16 points, while AFC Leopards are fifth with 32 points from 18 matches.

Leopards struggled to beat relegation strugglers Wazito 1-0 in a midweek clash at Kasarani and will now hope that victory in front of what will be a healthy crowd will take some pressure off their shoulders.

Kariobangi Sharks v KCB

KCB FC will be aiming to leapfrog Gor Mahia and return to the pinnacle of the FKF Premier League table when they face Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Annex Stadium.

The Bankers are on 36 points, while Gor Mahia, who will tackle tricky Bidco United, has 38 points.

KCB recorded their 11th win of the season when they silenced Talanta FC 1-0 in a match played last Wednesday. Henry Onyango scored the solitary goal in the second half.

Sharks come into the clash on the back of a 3-2 loss to Kenya Police FC away on March 8, their eighth stalemate of the season. William Muluya's charges have claimed 10 points from six home matches.

Both teams have met 11 times in the top-flight league since the 2019 season, where KCB has recorded seven wins compared to three of Sharks while three encounters ended in draws.

In the last meeting between the two sides, the Bankers emerged 2-1 victorious courtesy of Erick Adem and Mutinda Kyalo's goals.

Talanta v Tusker

Tusker FC fans will be feeling a whole lot better after three consecutive wins on the trot have taken the side into the top four of the FKF Premier League.

In fact, they could end the weekend in second position behind Gor Mahia, albeit they would have one game on hand.

The Brewers were losing ground on the title defender race a few weeks ago, but their season turned on a 2-1 win over Mathare United on February 18.

Talanta will look to get back into winning ways when they play the Brewers at the bumpy Ruaraka Grounds.

Kenneth Kenyatta's coached outfit fell 1-0 to KCB in their last league game away from home on March 8.

Talanta finds themselves in the 14th spot in the league standings- four points above the relegation zone and 17 points behind fourth-placed Tusker.
