Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has defended Trent Alexander-Arnold's poor performance against Manchester United and claimed that transfer rumours have not affected him.
Trent has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks after rejecting a contract extension from Liverpool.
The defender was criticised for his poor performance in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Sunday.
Following his poor display, pundits and supporters quickly linked his subpar performance to reports that he was leaving the team.

Van Dijk backs Arnold
Liverpool captain Van Dijk has defended his teammate's performance despite being linked with a move to Real Madrid.
According to BBC, Van Dijk said, "No. I am fine with it. Trent has his own people around him, his family and we are there as well. He wants to perform in the best way possible, like we all do. That is the main focus."
Alexander-Arnold struggled in the game and was replaced by Conor Bradley after 86 minutes after giving away the ball before United took the lead at Anfield on Sunday.
With the England international’s future still unsettled, Real Madrid have made him their number-one target in January.
However, there has been no concrete move from the Spanish side and it's yet to be seen if he will leave Liverpool this January.
