The national football team captain of Nigeria, Ahmed Musa, has denied reports circulating that he has hung up his boots.
Musa was not called up by ex-Super Eagles head coach Finidi George for the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
He also did not participate in any of Nigeria's seven matches at the 2023 AFCON tournament as the team placed second overall.
However, with Nigerian suggesting he has retired from the national team, he has come out to clear the air about his future with the Super Eagles.

Musa clears the air on retirement
Musa termed the speculations of his retirement baseless and reaffirmed his commitment to the national team in a chat with journalists in Kaduna following a friendly match he hosted.
According to the Leadership, the Super Eagles star said, “ “I only took a little break from the national team. But I didn’t exit the team.”
The former star of CSKA Moscow last played for the Super Eagles in a World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde in 2021.
His last game before the AFCON started was a quick seven-minute cameo against Guinea in a friendly in January.
Musa has been without a club since he unilaterally concluded his contract with Turkish side Sivasspor in February, which has increased rumours regarding his retirement.
The winger has won championships on three continents during his career, playing in Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, England, Russia, and Turkey.
He won three Russian Premier League titles with CSKA Moscow, the Saudi League and Super Cup with Al Nassr, the 2013 AFCON with Nigeria, and the Saudi League overall with Al Nassr.
