The ex-Nigeria international scored five goals during his time with Manchester United despite the limited minutes he got.
Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has revealed that he made a significant sacrifice to join Manchester United on loan in 2020.
The Nigerian striker at the time was with Shanghai Shenhua when his agent informed him that United were interested in his services.
Odion Ighalo played as a forward for the club until his loan move ended in January 2021. He made notable impact with goals in the FA Cup and Europa League during his time there.
In an interview with Manchester Evening News, Ighalo recalled his determination which helped make the transfer to Old Trafford a reality.

He expressed no regrets about his time at Old Trafford, adding that he had sleepless nights to make the deal happen.

Ex-Super Eagles striker, Odion Jude Ighalo, has given an update on when he will retire from playing football.
“At 11 pm in Shanghai, my agent called to say United wanted to finalize the deal, so I woke up and searched for a translator to speak with the directors. I didn’t sleep that night because the transfer window closed at 7 am Shanghai time.
"From 11 pm onward, we were busy with paperwork and negotiations while other teams were also interested in me. I told my agent that I wanted to go to United.
"He warned me I would have to take a pay cut, but I replied, ‘I don’t care. Make this deal happen. I want to go to United, regardless of the pay cut," he said.
