Alan Shearer is willing to see bitter rivals lift Premier League title for England to win Euros.

English football legend Alan Shearer has said he does not care about seeing his bitter rivals win the Premier League, provided the Three Lions pip Spain to European Championship glory.

England's trophy drought

Despite being the originators of football and having the most well-structured and successful domestic football pyramid, England have not had much luck in international tournaments.

Since Alf Ramsey's side defeated West Germany 4-2 to lift their maiden World Cup trophy, England have not only failed to taste success in another Mundial; they have yet to win a major trophy in the 58 years since.

The desperation for the title, any title, to “come home” compounds every tournament. They came close last time out but were beaten via penalties in the final against Italy. Gareth Southgate's side are in another final, this time against Spain, and fans want nothing more than for England glory, with many willing to do whatever it takes within reason to see the dream actualised.

What Alan Shearer said

For many, like Shearer, the aforementioned dream is lifelong, as the Newcastle legend was yet to be born during the World Cup triumph.

Shearer, like other Three Lions faithful, values England's triumph above all else, as he stated he does not care about Sunderland winning the Premier League if that were a condition for Southgate's side to trump Spain.

Shearer is an avid Newcastle supporter, having played the bulk of his career at St James' Park. The Magpies have a heated rivalry with their fellow Tynesiders, Sunderland, but Shearer will be willing to see them lift the Premier League for England's glory.

Someone asked me if I’d take England winning but Sunderland come back up to the Premier League and win the title," Shearer said, per Goal

"I don't care about Sunderland; I have no interest in them; I just want England to win so if that had to happen, then fair enough.

"I'm going to go for an England win. It really can happen.  We are playing against the best team of the tournament, but I just have a feeling that we'll have enough to win.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City star Rodri identified his club teammate Phil Foden as a Dangerman for England. He explained the threat the 24-year-old possesses and how they have to stop him.
