Atlanta Hawks basketballer Trey Young has responded to claims that he stole the iconic ‘Ice Cold’ celebration, popularised amongst modern football fans by Chelsea defender Cole Palmer.

Palmer had a breakthrough campaign for Chelsea last season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions and bagging a few individual awards.

Trey Young denies copying
Basketball star Trey Young has also posed similarly to Palmer's goal celebration after making great shots, and on Paul George’s podcast, he addressed suggestions that the footballer inspired his signature move.

The American denied it, suggesting that he was not familiar with Palmer. He stated that the genesis of the celebration was off the cuff, as opposed to claims that he was inspired.
“He accused me of stealing? I never heard, respectfully,” Young said, per ESPN UK. “I heard he's a pretty good soccer player. Like I don't know if it was a game-winner or it was a three, I just did it. I kind of ran with it; I didn't get it from nobody.”
It is important to note that Young bears the nickname ‘Ice Cold Trae’ and had this tag before Palmer joined Chelsea. He has also been associated with the move before the England international midfielder first displayed it in the Premier League.
