Famous Manchester United Usain Bolt spoke to Mikel Obi about the club's recent struggles under Erik Ten Hag.

Jamaican sprint legend and well-known Manchester United fan, Usain Bolt, recently shared his thoughts with Nigerian legend John Mikel Obi about the club's disappointing performance in the current season.

Speaking on Mikel Obi's "Obione" podcast, Bolt didn't hold back in expressing his bewilderment and frustration at the team's dramatic downturn in form.

Reflecting on the stark contrast between Erik Ten Hag’s first ‘promising’ first season and last campaign's struggles, Bolt said;

I don't know what is going on, it's crazy to see that we are struggling after that season (2022/23). We all were excited like 'oh, okay, this might be it - we might be going back in the top four to challenge and then this season you are like 'what is happening?'"

The eight-time Olympic gold medalist's disappointment was palpable as he added,

"I was like I can't believe this. It was crazy. It's so stressful man."

Bolt, who also reflected on his impressive journey in athletics, then shared an anecdote that particularly highlighted the team's fall from grace.

He recounted a phone call from footballer Ricardo Garner, who teasingly asked him;

"How does it feel?" Initially confused, Bolt soon realised Garner was referring to Chelsea overtaking Manchester United in the league standings.

The irony of the situation wasn't lost on Bolt, who had spent much of the season poking fun at Chelsea's struggles.

"Chelsea was in 10th all season and every day I take the piss out of it. I will just laugh at him all the time," Bolt admitted amid laughter from Mikel Obi.

"I didn't even notice Chelsea was catching us and he just called me and said how does it feel."

This unexpected turn of events seems to have caught Bolt, like many United fans, off guard. The fact that Chelsea, a team that had been languishing in 10th place for much of the season, managed to surpass Manchester United in the standings, underscores the depth of the Red Devils' recent struggles.

Bolt's comments reflect the wider sentiment among Manchester United supporters, who have witnessed their team's inconsistent performances and struggle to maintain their position in the league.

As one of the world's most recognisable United fans, Bolt's frustration echoes that of millions of the Red Devils supporters worldwide.

Ahead of what will be Ten Hag’s third season at the club, fans like Bolt will be hoping for a turnaround in fortunes for the Old Trafford outfit, especially given the arrival of INEOS.
