Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has shared some thoughts ahead of the new Premier League season.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his satisfaction with the two-year contract extension he received, despite the club's owners, INEOS, initially searching for a new manager earlier in the summer.

Ten Hag, 54, seemed like an afterthought in the process, but he insists he is content with the outcome.

"No, I wanted this," he said. "So I think two years in football is already a long time, and in two years, we will see what we have built on top of what we have achieved now."

When asked if a four-year contract would provide more financial security, Ten Hag smiled and replied, "No, I don't need that. I don't need that security."

He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration, stating, "It's important that we are together and that we are working together, and when you work together, you are in good moments together but also in bad moments.

"When it's being questioned [his support] in the surrounding [externally], then of course, that will flow into a team and is not helpful in achieving success."

Ten Hag expressed confidence in his abilities and his team, saying,

"I don't need this because I have enough security in my life and in my career, and I have enough belief that I know when I have a team, I will achieve success."

Manchester United take on rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield next Sunday, a team Ten Hag knows so well after defeating them in the FA Cup final.
