Moses Simon is one of Nantes' most important players, and he is guaranteed a starting place in the team as long as he is fit, prompting the Nigerian to reciprocate with an unrivalled loyalty to his club.

In 23 games this season, Moses Simon has recorded 13 goal contributions (6 goals and 7 assists) to help Nantes to 14th on the Ligue 1 table.

While answering questions during an interview, Simon informed L'Équipe (via Homme Du Match) that when you find love and acceptance where you are, staying does not become a problem.

“But when you love your club, when you get on well with everyone, you can stay, so it’s not a problem.”

The Nigerian attacker also added that moving to a bigger club does not guarantee a starting place, which can make a player unhappy with the decision. The Nigerian international has been a regular for club and country and moving to a major European club where he may not featured in the first 11 doesn’t sit well with him.

Moses Simon also reiterated that he is not motivated by the offer of European football because he’s had a feel of it before.

“You can be at a bigger club, not play and not be happy. Playing in the European Cup, of course, is something, I have already experienced, but if it does not come… My job is Nantes,” Simon stated.

I want to play at the 2026 World Cup - Moses Simon

Moses Simon also stated that his dream with the national team is to play at the FIFA World Cup. The Super Eagles star missed Russia 2018 due to injury, while Nigeria didn’t qualify for the 2022 edition after being knocked out by Ghana.

He said: “I also hope to play in a first World Cup in 2026. In 2018, I was injured, and in 2022, we didn’t qualify.”

Nigeria is in a tricky situation in the World Cup qualifier group after failing to win any of their four games so far. Moses Simon would be hoping that new coach Eric Chelle will bring the magic that will help the Super Eagles book a ticket to the 2026 tournament in USA, Mexico, and Canada.
