The Portuguese player acknowledged that he and the other players were responsible for the team's poor performance.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes regrets the dismissal of former manager Erik Ten Hag.

The Portuguese admitted that the players, including himself, bear some responsibility for the team's poor performance.

After scoring his first goal of the season with a second-half penalty to give United a lead against Chelsea, Fernandes felt the burden more than most.

"It is not good for anyone at the club when the manager goes. You have to take some of the blame on yourself because it is the team that is not doing so well and it is easier to get rid of a manager than 15 players.

"I spoke to the manager and apologised. We are not scoring goals and I feel responsible. I normally score many goals but I always give 100% and he is aware of that," Fernandes told Sky Sports.

Erik Ten Hag's time at Man United

The Dutch tactician guided the Red Devils to their worst Premier League finish last season finishing eighth. However, he avoided dismissal by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final to win a laurel.

He started the 24/25 season poorly, which led to his sack, with Ruud Van Nistelrooy appointed as interim manager.

Meanwhile, Porto's Ruben Amorim has been named the permanent manager, but Van Nistelrooy will remain in charge until the November international break.
