Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim expressed some of his frustrations following the draw at Anfield.

Despite securing a well-earned point against high-flying Liverpool at Anfield, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was left disappointed.

The 39-year-old was brought in as the permanent replacement for Erik ten Hag in Manchester United's bid to end a run of bad results. However, the Portuguese has struggled to steady the ship in his short stint in charge.

Prior to the draw against Liverpool, Amorim's side had lost four games in a row; hence, they were expected to be blown apart by the Reds, who sit at the top of the Premier League standings.

However, Amorim's boys put on a gutsy showing and were a Harry Maguire miss away from a 3-2 win at Anfield. The Red Devils had to settle for a draw, but that was not the source of frustration for Amorim, who criticised his team for being selective about when to turn up.

What Amorim said

"The expectations [of the media] were so much different from what we saw,” he said post-game, per the BBC. “I get more mad because of the other games, so it's even harder to understand some things. It's not about a system, the technique; it's about something else and it's hard to understand for the coach.

"It's a point, and I think we should get mad and disappointed more than what we did against Newcastle. We need to be really disappointed and I have to calm down and say the right things.

“We're in a difficult moment. If we play against Liverpool every day we will do that but we have to do it against any opponent. We need to fight really bad to get out of this situation.

"The way we were really competitive, that's the crucial thing going forward. I'm happy for the performance, not happy with the result but am really, really mad with the other games."
