Post-Match criticism on Boniface and Iheanacho
Forwards Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho bore the brunt of criticism for their underwhelming performances. Despite starting, both players failed to make an impact.
Boniface played 89 minutes, while Iheanacho was substituted at halftime. Coach Eguavoen defended Iheanacho, saying:
"Kelechi Iheanacho is an asset to the national team; he needs some encouragement. We spoke with him, and I told him he would start and play for 45 minutes."
Regarding Boniface, Eguavoen stated:
"I have spoken with Boniface several times; I have done enough. He is important to this team."
