After an impressive campaign at Getafe, Mason Greenwood will get another chance to rebuild his reputation on and off the field at Marseille since sealing a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has opted to avoid addressing controversies surrounding his past, preferring to concentrate on a fresh start with French club Olympique de Marseille.

The 22-year-old English star has left Old Trafford and joined the French club on a permanent transfer, with Marseille confirming the deal.

During his first press conference at the club, Greenwood was asked about the uproar surrounding his signing due to allegations of assault made against him earlier.

Greenwood responded by acknowledging the reporter's question but firmly stated his desire to move forward, "I understand the question, but I don't really want to get into any conversations or discussions about that," he said.

"I'd only like to look forward and to be part of Marseille and just to move forward with myself, my family, my daughter and my partner and the whole club and to focus on the football and the off-field work with my family."

Charges against Greenwood were dropped in February 2023, but the incident has continued to cast a shadow on the young footballer everywhere he goes.

Shifting Focus to Football

Greenwood's arrival at Marseille has been met with mixed reactions. While some fans welcome his talent, others, including the city's Mayor, have condemned the signing due to the unresolved allegations.

However, Mason Greenwood's deflection underlines his intention to leave the controversy behind and concentrate on his football career at Marseille.

The English striker could play a part in Marseille's first friendly of the season against Nimes on Sunday.
