Gor Mahia nears decision as Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno’s prospects dim in final stretch of coach search
Gor Mahia are gearing up for a pivotal coaching decision as they intensify their search for a permanent head coach.
Speaking after the match, Otieno asserted his pedigree that he says speaks for itself and he has no point to prove.
"I have no point to prove to anyone," said Otieno. "I coached the national team before, I have coached Gor Mahia before. What point do I need to prove? I'm just working, and we wait and see."
Despite the team's turnaround under his leadership, reports suggest the club management is prioritizing foreign coaches with international pedigree to fill the vacant position permanently. However, Otieno remains composed, focusing on his job rather than external opinions.
Under Otieno’s stewardship, Gor Mahia has climbed to fourth in the FKF Premier League standings with 17 points, just five points behind league leaders KCB, with two games in hand. This resurgence has bolstered their chances of retaining the league title.
"For us as a team, our objective remains the same," Otieno emphasized as he asserted team's title retention ambitions.

Gor Mahia edge past Talanta in nervy five-goal thriller
Gor Mahia came into the match on high momentum with back-to-back wins from their previous matches.
"When we joined Gor Mahia with the former coach Leonardo Neiva, our goal was to retain the league title. That objective has not changed. I'm happy for Coach Neiva, he left a very good foundation, and we are building on it."
As the club continues its search for a permanent head coach, Zico’s immediate focus remains steering Gor Mahia towards title contention, regardless of whether he secures the top job or not.
