Super Eagles star Nathan Tella has claimed that he is taking some steps to get back into the Nigerian national team.
Following the last AFCON qualifying game, Tella was left out of the squad by Augustine Eguavoen following his poor performance at Bayer Leverkusen.
The forward hasn't had the best time in Germany because he has struggled to get a starting spot in Xabi Alonso's squad.
However, he is hoping to get back his form and secure a starting shirt following an impressive outing against Heidenheim.

Tella wants Super Eagles return
Tella has disclosed that he is putting a lot of effort into getting back to the Nigerian national team.
Speaking with OmaSports TV, Tella said, “Of course, it’s an honour to represent your country, but I have to play here more to get the recognition to play with the country.
“I think it’s all about baby steps, keep getting better, keep improving and if I continue to do the right things, I hope Nigeria will call me back.
“I can’t go just because of who I am, I have to earn the opportunity to play for Nigeria and if I’m not playing well for my club, I have to work hard to get back into the team here, then the national team follows.”
Tella insisted there is still work to be done with his performance at his club, and he is looking to work hard to make the team.
Meanwhile, Leverkusen are currently fourth on the Bundesliga table and are nine points off the league leaders Bayern Munich.
