City Stars went through a very tough season that culminated in the side performing much worse than the voided 2021/2022 season.
Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has praised the efforts of his team and thanked the club’s board for believing in him after he helped the side overcome adversity to secure its top-flight status for next season.
Simba wa Nairobi started the season in a predicament, failing to register a win in any of their first eight games and only winning eight games this season, rather indifferent form that saw the club plummet from their fifth-place finish in the voided 2021/22 season.

“I must applaud the efforts of the whole team. We were in a situation whereby I was about to lose my job because the team knows its objective, especially the management,” he said.

Simba wa Nairobi are looking forward to being Gor Mahia’s latest party poopers ahead of their clash on Sunday.
“If they were not patient I think they would have made drastic changes that maybe would have changed the future of the team. I am happy they have been very supportive of the team, the young players, and now you can see they have grown in confidence."
Several top-flight debutants have made a positive impression, especially winger-cum center forward Kelvin Etemesi who has scored 12 league goals, all of them since April.

“I am very confident and happy with the progress I am seeing and it has been a lot of patience as the league has gone on. We used to lose match after match but I can point out the CEO (Patrick Korir) who has been very supportive and encouraging of the boys and technical staff.
“It has really helped in terms of the team being together. Going forward I think now we have a solid team that can compete well with the big teams so I am not worried about that.”
