Barcelona's ace narrated how he was inches away from signing for Manchester United.
Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski recounted how he nearly signed for Manchester United after a conversation with the almost indiscernible Sir Alex Ferguson and his Scottish accent.
The 36-year-old is in the twilight of his career, leading the LALIGA scoring chart for Barcelona. He has had an illustrious career, winning the Bundesliga for both Dortmund and Bayern Munich and winning the Spanish league with the Blaugrana.

Real Madrid have been handed an injury boost ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.
However, his career could have gone a different route, as he was in talks to join Manchester United, who were keen on landing him in the summer of 2012. Dortmund refused to sell, and the Red Devils eventually poached Robin Van Persie from Arsenal. The rest, as they say, is history.
What Lewandowski said
In a conversation with FourFourTwo, the Polish striker revealed he had a conversation with Sir Alex when Manchester United were interested. He admitted to barely understanding the legendary manager’s thick accent.
"I said yes to Manchester United. I think it was after my second season at Dortmund," Lewandowski told FourFourTwo.
"I was talking to Sir Alex Ferguson—my English wasn’t good then and with his Scottish accent, I was trying to understand everything but it was very tough to understand every word he was saying!
"But as a 22- or 23-year-old guy, I was so happy to speak with Sir Alex Ferguson—he wants you and you say, ‘OK.’ But I told Borussia Dortmund that I wanted to join Manchester United and Dortmund said no. If they had said yes, I was probably going to play for Manchester United.”
