Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared his grass-to-grace story of how he rose from being a nobody to an internationally celebrated football icon.
The Napoli talisman, who has scored five goals in seven matches so far this season, said he used to sell newspapers and sachet water (popularly known as pure water in local parlance) at Ojota market, Lagos, Nigeria.

Osimhen made this shocking revelation during an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, adding that he did not know that he would one day become a household name in international football.
“I was only imagining to be a football professional when I was still in the trenches. Then, the situation of the family was really tough. We had to go to sell newspapers (sports newspapers) at Ojota and sell pure water.”
Osimhen, who is on the radar of top European giants like Chelsea and Manchester United, added that he even used to fetch water for his neighbours back then.
“As at that time I was fetching water for my neighbours. Sometimes, the rest of the house will have light and our own room doesn’t have.”
Victor Osimhen on Fame
The 24-year-old, who recently was the subject of a TikTok saga with his Naples club, revealed that fame does not mean anything to him.
According to him, there are many famous people who don’t have money in their bank accounts. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a humble profile in life.
“You have to be humble in this life. Most times sef the money wey you get na another person motor,” he said.
