Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi has revealed the footballer that inspired him to become a midfield player.

The 27-year-old joined Leicester City in the English Premier League during the winter transfer window of 2017.

Since then, he has won the EFL Championships, the FA Cup, and the Emirates Community Shield with the Foxes.

Following his impressive career with Leicester, the midfielder has opened up on what has made him a better player.

“When I was younger, I wanted the number twelve shirt because of Mikel at Chelsea. Also he was in the Premier League, so yeah.

“As a player in the same role now, and in the Premier League, I feel so good. Even back home, everyone wants to get on it and support their Nigerian footballers.

Ndidi disclosed that he chose to play as a midfielder rather than a central defender because of Mikel Obi, pointing out that the former Chelsea player cleared the way for him.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles Wilfred Ndidi has also named a former Chelsea star as the most difficult opponent he has ever faced.
