Manchester United's recent woes may have a potential solution from an unexpected source as one of the club's past managers is open to a comeback.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted a desire to return as manager of Manchester United, three years after being sacked.

Solskjaer, who was shown the door in 2021, expressed his willingness to rejoin the club if called upon, referring to United as 'family' while remaining respectful to current manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag is once again under pressure after a sluggish start to the season, winning just three of the club's 8 games so far.

"If the family [United] asks, I would say yes every day of the week," Solskjaer revealed during a Q&A session at the Oslo Business Forum.

"It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have now, but I would say yes, of course."

Since departing United, Solskjaer has worked as a technical observer for UEFA, including contributing to the Euro 2024 technical report after covering the tournament in Germany this summer.

The Red Devils stumbled to a 1-1 draw against FC Twente in their Europa League opener and will hope for a better outing against Tottenham at Old Trafford this weekend.
