Unfortunately for the new Viktoria Plzen forward, the Czech champions are already out of the 2022/23 Champions League having lost all six of their Group C matches last year.
Following his move to Czechoslovakian giants Viktoria Plzen, Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi has revealed that his goal is to play in the UEFA Champions League.
The 20-year-old who played his age-grade football with Unique Football Academy Lagos and Box 2 Box FC, in Europe's winter transfer window, completed a 6-month loan deal to Viktoria Plzen from MFK Karvina.
Prior, Durosinmi had scored ten goals and six assists in 39 appearances for Karvina.
Durosinmi eyeing Champions League football
Sharing his goals after joining the Czech Republic champions, Durosinmi admitted that playing in the Champions League was one thing that he wanted to achieve.
“I am very happy that I got such a chance to play for Viktoria Plzen,” Durosinmi said in an interview on the Viktoria Plzen website.
“I watched Viktoria’s matches in the Champions League, it’s a really big team and I have to do my best to make it and maybe play here in the Champions League one day too.”
Durosinmi to focus on Czech league in the meantime
Unfourtnately for Durosinmi, Viktoria Plzen are already out of the 2022/23 Champions League having lost all six of their Group C matches last year.
A poor outing saw them conceed 24 goals against group winners Bayern Munich, runners up Inter Milan, and Barcelona who dropped to the Europa League. They scored only five goals in the process.
For Durosinmi, he will hope to getting back into contention for Plzen after suffering a 2-1 defeat on his debut against Hradec Kralove.
The 20-year-old's journey in Europe started in 2019 when he joined Czech Republic side Karvina from Nigerian amateur team Box2Box FC.
