The 48-year-old, a legendary figure in Brazilian football, expressed his motivation for seeking the leadership role.
"Among hundreds of things that motivate me to become a candidate for president of the CBF, I want to recover this prestige and respect that the Selecao (Brazil's national team) always had and today nobody else has," Ronaldo told Globo Esporte.
He currently holds a stake in the Spanish top-flight side of Real Valladolid. However, he said he anticipates selling his shares in the Spanish club soon.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Al Hilal CEO opens up on signing Al Nassr star to face Messi in Club World Cup
Al-Hilal’s CEO Esteve Caldaza, has reacted to claims that the Saudi club could sign Cristiano Ronaldo for a showdown with Lionel Messi next summer.
"We're negotiating a possible sale very soon and we should close the deal. It won't be an obstacle to my candidacy," he confirmed.
This isn't Ronaldo's first experience with club ownership. He previously owned a 90% stake in Brazilian team Cruzeiro, which he sold earlier this year.
His experience in managing a football club at that level will likely be a key aspect of his campaign for the CBF presidency.
