Weeks after her sensational heroics at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Julien Alfred finally returned to Saint Lucia and received a rousing reception.

Olympic gold medalist Julien Alfred received a hero's welcome upon her return to Saint Lucia following her historic triumph at the Paris 2024 Olympics. 

The sprinter, who made history by winning the country's first-ever Olympic gold medal in the 100m sprint, was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from fans and supporters eager to celebrate her remarkable achievements.

“I’m truly lost for words,” Alfred expressed during the celebrations per apnews

Her heartfelt gratitude extended to the government, her mother, coach, and the community she affectionately referred to as "my village."

“So many people have guided me along the way and helped me to get to this point,” she added. 

“It didn’t come easy; it was truly a rocky road. Many days I just wanted to give up.”

Alfred's journey to Olympic glory was marked by a series of impressive performances, culminating in a thrilling final where she clocked a personal best of 10.72 seconds, defeating world champion Sha'Carri Richardson.
