Leicester City boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy has opened up on the circumstances surrounding his exit from Manchester United.
New Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that he had a conversation with Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim before leaving Old Trafford last month.
The Dutchman, who was interim manager at United after Erik ten Hag's departure, admitted that he was "hurt" and "disappointed" when Amorim decided not to include him in his coaching staff.
The 48-year-old expressed his commitment to United, saying:
"The moment I took over the interim job, I said I'm here to help United and to stay to help United, and I meant it.
"So I was very disappointed, and it hurts that I had to leave."

New Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed his plans for the Foxes after replacing Steve Cooper.
Van Nistelrooy revealed that he had a conversation with Amorim, which helped him move on.
"I spoke to Ruben about it, fair enough to him. I was grateful for the conversation: man to man, person to person, manager to manager."
"That helped me a lot to move on and straightaway get into talks about new possibilities which of course lifted my spirits."
Van Nistelrooy will start his tenure as Leicester City boss with a home game against struggling West Ham.
