The Super Eagles of Nigeria could be getting a new head coach as the future of interim boss Austin Eguavoen hangs in the balance.
Former Manchester United youth coach Jonathan Hill has expressed interest in taking the reins of Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Despite Augustine Eguavoen's success in guiding the team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are reportedly still desperate to appoint a foreign, top-level coach.

Jonathan Hill wants Super Eagles job

Regarding the Super Eagles coaching job, Hill said:
"I think you have to applaud the work that's being done already by Austine and his crew. Qualification for the World Cup is something that could be achieved as well.
"Great, untapped talent pool. Cultural and sporting experience which I enjoy and know I do well with... It's a demanding role, but it pushes you to deliver your best."
While it remains to be seen if Hill will be appointed as the Super Eagles coach, one thing is clear: failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup would be disastrous.
The Super Eagles are currently 5th in Group C and must take positive results from their next two qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March 2025 to stand a chance of qualifying.
