Super Eagles most followed but forgotten star on Fayha as brace inspires dramatic victory in Saudi
Nigeria Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru has scored his second brace in five matches.
The former Enugu Rangers midfielder, who was part of the triumphant Nigerian team that clinched the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations trophy, believes he has what it takes to lead the Super Eagles to glory.
In an exclusive interview with Punch, Okpala praised Peseiro's efforts while asserting his readiness for the challenge ahead.
"The only thing I can say about Peseiro is that he has tried his best, but the game goes on," Okpala remarked confidently. "I’m one of those that should replace him."
A Glance at Okpala's Credentials
Okpala's confidence is backed by a solid coaching career, including a stint as assistant coach to Stephen Keshi when the Super Eagles clinched the AFCON title for the third time in 2013.
Reflecting on his past successes, Okpala emphasized, "I’ve won the Nations Cup as a player, and I have won it as an assistant coach to Keshi; the record is there. It is not easy. It’s not by luck or mathematics; it’s by knowledge."
Drawing parallels between past and present squads, Okpala highlighted the potential of the current crop of players. "We have players that can win the World Cup," he asserted confidently. "So yes, if I am given a chance, I will do wonders with these boys."
