Pep Guardiola expressed overwhelming pride after reaching another major milestone following Manchester City’s victory over Leicester City.
Speaking after the game, the City boss shared his emotional reaction to the milestone, which coincided with a crucial win.
“Yeah, definitely [proud],” Guardiola said when asked about his achievement.
“It is better to celebrate it with a victory and the new year. I am so proud. I would cry now. I’m so proud to be a part of this club. Today, when they told me, ‘You are going to do 500 games,’ I said, ‘Wow.’
“But we are judged in the last 13. Look, in the other 480 games, they have been an incredible period, and yeah, more to come.”
Despite recent struggles, Guardiola remains optimistic about his team’s potential, hinting at a brighter future as City look to rediscover their dominant form.

A record of dominance under Guardiola
Sunday’s victory marked just Manchester City’s second win in 14 matches across all competitions and their first since defeating Nottingham Forest on December 4.
While their recent form has been uncharacteristically poor, Guardiola’s achievements during his tenure remain unmatched.
Since taking charge in the summer of 2016, Guardiola has become the Premier League’s longest-serving active manager, ahead of Brentford’s Thomas Frank by two years.
His impact has been transformational—if the Premier League table started from Guardiola’s arrival, Manchester City would sit comfortably at the top, with 45 points more than any other team.
Additionally, City have scored 83 more goals than their closest rivals, Liverpool, during this period, showcasing the attacking prowess synonymous with Guardiola’s philosophy.
Guardiola is also the first manager to oversee 500 games at a Premier League club since David Moyes reached the milestone with Everton in January 2013.
