Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo has told the Nigeria Football Federation to permanently appoint interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen.
Since Finidi George's resignation in June after a string of subpar performances, the Super Eagles have been without a permanent coach.
Eguavoen has been acting as a temporary coach ever since and has had to lead the team during the qualifiers.
The interim coach has led the Super Eagles to three wins and one draw in his first four games in charge.

'You can't be good for club and slacking for Nigeria' — Kanu sends strongly worded message to struggling Super Eagles stars
Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kano told Super Eagles players they must give the national team double their output for the various club sides.
Kanu wants Eguavoen’s appointment
Kanu, a former Arsenal player, felt that Eguavoen ought to have received a permanent contract by now.
The two-time African Player of the year told Brila FM, per OgaNla media, “If I were the NFF president, I’d have given him the job by now.
“What are they waiting for? Are we waiting for him to lose two matches before we say he should go? This is overdue; they have to act.
“They brought someone in, he’s doing well, winning matches—what else are you looking for When coaches are doing well, you keep them.
“If they’re still looking for the ‘right one,’ when is that going to come. We don’t have time, qualifications here and there.”
The Super Eagles have qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations under Eguavoen's leadership. Securing a 2026 World Cup ticket will be his next assignment with the squad.
Meanwhile, Kanu has urged Super Eagles players to give the national team double their output as they do for their various club sides.
