Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar, who plays for Valencia, has spoken out against the mob killing of 16 Hausa travellers in Edo State.

A mob in Edo State attacked and killed 16 Hausa hunters who were travelling from Port Harcourt to Kano for Salah celebrations.

The hunters were falsely accused of being Fulani herdsmen and kidnappers, which led to several reactions.

Locals in Udune Efandion, Edo State, allegedly attacked and killed occupants of a Dangote cement truck returning to the North, accusing them of being criminal herders.

The Real Sociedad loanee expressed his anger at the public's ignorance following the tragic lynching of over a dozen northern travellers in Edo State, who were wrongfully accused of being kidnappers.

Sadiq said, “Only the ignorant don’t know the difference between Hausa and Fulani. Hausa is a tribe from the North on its own, with both Muslims and Christians in it, and with good and bad people like any other tribe.

“[It is the] same as the Fulani, who have their own language (Fulatanchi) and are also made up of both Muslims and Christians. Ignorance is killing people. We have good and bad people in every tribe.”
