Ikorodu City pulled off a thrilling 2-1 victory over Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match on Sunday.

Moses Effiong gave Katsina United an early lead in the 18th minute, but just before the halftime break, Solomon Alade equalised for Ikorodu City.

However, the visitors managed to snatch all three points with a late goal from Emmanuel Solomon in the 89th minute.

The win moves Ikorodu FC up to 12th on the NPFL table with 14 points after 11 games so far.

Ikorodu poor start to the season

The Oga Boys started the season on a poor note, losing to Enugu Rangers and Nasarawa United in their first two home games.

They also lost to Kano Pillars and Plateau United away and drew with Kwara United before regaining their balance and rhythm in the League against Bendel Insurance.

Ikorodu City and Heartland shared the spoils in WK7.

The newly promoted side recorded their first victory of the season after defeating Bendel Insurance 3-0 at the Mobolaji Jhonson Arena in Onikan.

For results elsewhere, Bayelsa United defeated Rivers United 1-0 in the South-South Derby, inflicting Finidi George's second defeat of the season. Prior to this, the former Super Eagles manager had enjoyed a nine-game unbeaten run.

Kwara United secured their third away win of the day, defeating Nasarawa United 1-0 at Lafia City Stadium.
