Ikorodu City to host Madiba in NNL Lagos derby

The Lagos derby will kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

Ikorodu City will be hosting newly promoted Madiba in the Lagos derby of the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Match day four of the NNL in Southern Conference Group B2 will see action in two centres, Lagos and Ogun State.

The Solomon Bala boys are currently unbeaten after three matches played, and they sit at the top of the group with five points.

The NNL journey started on a high for the Oshodi boys as they defeated Ekiti United 3-0 in their first game in the league.

The Second League game saw the Oshodi Boys travel to Sagamu to face FC Ebedie, which ended 0-0.

The third match of their campaign witnessed a 'storm' in a keenly contested match against the Abeokuta Stormers in Lagos, which ended 1-1.

Madiba's captain, Rabiu Nurudeen, is confident that his side will dominate their opposition.

"I know the match is going to be though but what I believe is that we Madiba boys we are going to come out victoriously. We are set and ready," he said.

Ikorodu City bagged three points in two games

The Lagos-based club started the second division league on a high note as they defeated Ebedei FC 3-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on matchday one.

The Oga boys, however, started on a slow note especially in the first half but were still good enough to take a 2-0 goal in the opening 35 minutes.

Hassan broke the deadlock in the 30th minute before Tosin scored his first of the day five minutes later to double Ikorodu's advantage.

Two minutes later, a fine header from a corner gave Ebedei a lifeline as they pulled one back to make it 2-1 at the break in the NNL tie.

After the break, it was Ikorodu City who looked much improved and added to the scoreline when super-sub, Chinedu superbly setup skipper, Tosin, who no mistakes from a close range to score his score and a third for Ikorodu City.

Pulse Sports reports that in the second game against Stormers Sports Club, the Oga Boys suffered a defeat.
