Mourinho addressed the reports linking him to a sensational Real Madrid return.

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho refused to shut down links to Real Madrid, as he expressed his undying love for the club; however, he paid respect to the current gaffer, Carlo Ancelotti.

The 63-year-old has previously coached Los Blancos, a three-season stint that ran from 2010 to 2013, in which he won one LALIGA title. Although he left on fractious terms, the Portuguese is still highly regarded in Madrid.

Lately, he has been linked with an Ancelotti-type return to the Spanish capital, and Mourinho, who is currently on the outskirts of mainstream football, Fenerbahce in the Super Lig, does not shun the idea.

What Mourinho said

As Pulse Sports reported, a return to the Premier League is Mourinho's priority. The Portuguese has expressed a desire to return to the English top flight upon the expiration of his Fenerbahce contract in two years.

However, as Ancelotti previously expressed during his forgettable stint at Everton, it's almost impossible to reject Real Madrid. The Italian’s contract expires in 2026, and he is not expected to be handed a renewal.

'The Special One' Jose Mourinho

Ahead of the clash against Spanish side Athletic Club in the Europa League, Jose was asked about the prospects of coaching Real Madrid again, and he had the following to say.

"I'll always be a big fan of Real Madrid,” the Yellow Canaries manager said. “They have the best coach in the world, my friend Carlo. He's doing very well.

"The future depends on what the president wants: if he wants a young coach with a big projection as Xabi [Alonso] or continue in the same line as Carlo, a coach with experience, or look at the youth section [Madrid reserves coach] with Raul or [Madrid youth team coach Alvaro] Arbeloa. It depends."
