Finidi George, the head coach of the Super Eagles, gave an honest evaluation of his team's performance during Friday's draw with South Africa.

The Super Eagles played a 1-1 draw in their third game against South Africa at the Godwin Akpabio Stadium yesterday.

Due to the draw, Finidi's team are still in search of their first victory in the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The head coach is disappointed with his team earning a draw against South Africa and was looking forward to getting his first competitive win.

Finidi said after the game, “We started sloppy in the first half, we took over the game immediately we scored in the second half.

“We missed chances, overall, it was not a bad second half for us. The players reacted well in the second half, but it was not the best result we wanted, we have to get our heads up and work for the next game (Benin Republic). I am not happy about the point.”

South Africa were unfortunate to go into halftime with just Themba Zwane's magnificent strike to show for their hard work and creativity.

The Super Eagles came out in the second half and tied the score in the 46th minute thanks to Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who was playing his first competitive game for Nigeria.

Nigeria had opportunities to win it through wasted chances from Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Paul Onuachu, and Samuel Chukwueze.

Even though Finidi was disappointed that the Eagles were unable to win the game, he still praised his team for improving after the break.

Nigeria will play their next match, a rematch with former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, on Monday, June 10, in the Benin Republic.
