Jose Mourinho has declared himself match fit after being taken out by his own player in a training session.
Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed he’s “match fit” for the club’s upcoming clash with Trabzonspor, despite sustaining an unexpected injury during training.
The 61-year-old Portuguese tactician was on the receiving end of an accidental takedown by one of his own players earlier this week, leading to a minor injury that required him to be helped off the pitch.
Never one to miss a teaching moment, Mourinho shared footage of the incident on social media, calling it “a lesson to young managers,” while assuring fans that he would be back in action.
Mourinho took to Instagram after his recovery, writing, “All good Isma. Ready for Sunday,” hinting at his readiness to return to the touchline.
Mourinho’s rollercoaster season with Fenerbahce so far
This season has been anything but smooth for Mourinho at Fenerbahce.
Alongside a six-match unbeaten streak, the Portuguese has faced criticism for allegedly “spreading unhappiness” in the dressing room, a claim that’s only added fuel to his fire.
Fans recall his highly-publicised send-off during a Europa League fixture against his former club, Manchester United, where emotions ran high.
With another packed week ahead, Fenerbahce will continue to rely on Mourinho’s experience to stay competitive both domestically and in Europe.
Fenerbahce are set to face Trabzonspor on Sunday, November 3, as Mourinho’s men seek to close the eight point gap between them and current league leaders Galatasaray.
This weekend’s clash will be followed by an Europa League trip to the Netherlands to play AZ Alkmaar.
