Asisat Oshoala may have been injured as Barcelona won the Champions League title, but she made history in the process.
Super Falcons of Nigeria star Asisat Oshoala made history as the Barcelona Femeni defeated Wolfsburg to win the 2023 Women's Champions League.
Barcelona had to come back from two goals down to record a 3-2 victory in 90 minutes.
Oshoala, who did not feature in the final due to injury, set a new record with the victory.
Oshoala makes history with Barcelona
She is now the first female player from Africa or Nigeria to have won two European Cups.
Oshoala has been adding awards to her trophy-filled cabinet ever since she made her debut 14 years ago.
She played a significant part in Barcelona's run to the championship, even though she was forced to miss the match because of injury worries.
Oshoala participated in 10 games in the UEFA Women's Champions League this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
With Rivers United, Oshoala has won the Nigeria Women's Football League twice.
She won the FA Cup with Arsenal FC and has won the Primera División three times with FC Barça Femin.
She has won five African Player of the Year accolades and a Pichichi award for best scorer, making her the first female player to receive both honors.
In order to prepare for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in time for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Oshoala must now focus on recovering from injury.
