Ruben Amorim's first game in charge of Manchester United was a disappointing 1-1 draw against relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.

Manchester United failed to inspire in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge, settling for a 1-1 draw against Ipswich at Portman Road.

The visitors started on the front foot as Amorim's 3-4-2-1 started to take shape, and Marcus Rashford who started as the lone striker, took advantage of a fine pass from Amad Diallo to slot home inside 4 minutes.

After that early goal, the game went flat for a while but opened up in the final minutes of the first half as Diogo Dalot unleashed a tame shot straight at Arijanet Muric.

At the other end, Onana denied former Manchester City man Liam Delap’s powerful close-range strike but he could do nothing to prevent Omari Hutchinson from Equalising in the 43rd minute.

The second half saw Delap’s clever flick stopped by Onana’s quick reflexes before Jens Cajuste’s perfectly timed sliding tackle thwarted Garnacho at the other end.

Amorim made a host of positive changes as he chased the lead, and Bruno Fernandes sent a free-kick narrowly wide, but despite some promising signs for United, Ipswich remained organised to see out a precious point.
